Breaking the Silence: Men’s Mental Health Matters
June is Men’s Mental Health Month, and at WholesomeCo, we believe wellness is about more than just physical health — it’s about whole-person care. This month, we’re inviting our community to engage in a powerful, overdue conversation: how men are struggling in silence, and what we can all do to help.
The Silent Struggle
Men are often taught to be strong, silent, and emotionless, but the data tells a more sobering story:
- 1 in 5 men will experience a mental health issue during their lifetime.
- Men die by suicide nearly 4 times more than women, according to the CDC.
- Middle-aged white men have the highest suicide rate in the U.S.
- Less than 50% of men who experience depression or anxiety seek help.
These numbers aren’t just statistics — they represent friends, brothers, coworkers, fathers, and husbands. Stigma, fear, and outdated cultural norms continue to keep many men from getting the support they deserve.
Breaking Through with Support
Mental health doesn't discriminate by gender, but the conversation around it needs to. For men especially, a small show of support can go a long way. Here are ways to open that door:
- Normalize emotional check-ins: A simple “How are you really doing?” can break barriers.
- Encourage professional help: Therapy is a sign of strength, not weakness.
- Model vulnerability: When we talk honestly, we create space for others to do the same.
- Listen without fixing: “I hear you” is often more powerful than advice.
At WholesomeCo, we advocate for holistic wellness — and while cannabis may support mental balance, it should never be a substitute for professional care. Use with intention, seek support when needed, and stay connected.

Let’s remind the men in our lives — fathers, brothers, partners, coworkers, and friends — that their emotional well-being is just as important as their physical health.
